Festival Cancellation Notice: May 13 2020
It is with regret that we have to announce that the July 2020 Festival will not go ahead as planned due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. While we know this is very disappointing for our audiences, lecturers, poet, singer, and participants in our Art Exhibition we look forward to next year’s Festival which will be held on July 24-26 2021.
“Over the past few weeks, our team have been considering how best we could safely deliver some, or all, of our 2020 Festival events.
In coming to our decision we have taken into account Government guidelines, the safety of our communities, and the possibility of delivering an enjoyable and valid Festival in July 2020 and we had no alternative but to cancel the 2020 Festival.
Since 1988 Monasterevin has celebrated its association with Hopkins and it is with great regret we feel obliged for public safety reasons to cancel this year’s festival.
Our immediate priority is to support the health and civil authorities in doing whatever we can to keep each other safe and well, and ultimately to protect lives.
We salute the leadership and the selfless efforts of frontline and support staff everywhere;
Finally, we encourage everyone to continue supporting our health and emergency services, who assure and maintain the necessary services to keep us all well at this time and we wish to express our gratitude, admiration and thanks for their dedication and professionalism which is proving so vital at this time.
For now, keep safe, keep healthy and look after each other and we look forward to seeing you in 2021.
